Epping Forest District Museum

The Museum is at 39 – 41 Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, EN9 1EL.

Please note that the Museum is currently closed to the public while an exciting project takes place to refurbish and extend the building in Sun Street.   A grant of nearly £2 million pounds from the Heritage Lottery Fund is helping to pay for improved facilities and displays in the original building, and an extension into the building next door with increased exhibition space and an activity room.

The museum will reopen in Spring 2015, but in the meantime you can still enjoy activities and events as the museum is taken on the move around the district.   Staff will still be going out to schools, running activities in school holidays at Playschemes and in Waltham Abbey library, as well as visiting new places with museum handling objects.   Don’t forget we also run Lowewood Museum in Hoddesdon, so you can still catch up with us there, and enjoy lots of different events and activities.
